Lena for Lunch, then Back to Berlin

Although Lena Horne is relatively unknown in Germany and other parts in Europe, she certainly is viewed as an American national treasure over here in the States.
James Gavin, a prolific writer, wrote the first biography of her, published in June to critical acclaim. We met Jim yesterday at a Diner on the Upper West Side to chat with him about the book, about other singers and their whereabouts, and about future projects.

How to Win with JazzRadio! |
|
Business owners are being urged to ‘Get the Edge' in a new on-air campaign by JazzRadio.
Geschäftsführer Julian Allitt is offering a free confidential advice session to any business owner looking for advice on how to succeed in a competitive market during an economic downturn.
"You really have to get the edge over your competitors", Mr Allitt said. "Too many good businesses fail because they don't market themselves as well as they should. Relying only on ‘word of mouth' at times like this can be fatal".
Mr Allitt, who worked in newspapers before radio, launched a real estate company in England during the last major recession, in 1990 - with innovative campaigns using both media.
"Within six months, we were number one in the market", he said. "Believe it or not, a recession is a great opportunity to win a bigger share of business".
