Do you, too, sometimes dream of the sea?

What could be more beautiful than flying under white sails over the ocean to unknown harbours with only the noises of sea and wind?

Sailing has many facets. Some like sliding by jolle over a lake or rushing by catamaran alongside the coastline.

Some enjoy some days recovering and relaxing in deep contentment with nature and the sea. Some sailors love the challenge of a race with 80 yachts, the adrenalin at the start line or on the way to the finishing line.

Some have a long-held dream to be on board a legendary racing yacht which once
won a round-the-world race. They want to hold the steering wheel in their own hands while overhauling the ferry boats with twice wind speed. Some dream of crossing the Atlantic Ocean either by a 12m yacht or a white dream under sails like the Sea Cloud with its five-star luxury. Many fall into a reverie when they view a wind-jammer which tells stories of 100 years of navigation. Some like the continuous sailing breezes of the Baltic Sea while others prefer the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea with endless bathing in the warm waters of a bay. Some dream of boarding a racing yacht after breakfast in Gibraltar and enjoying afternoon tea in Africa.

Speaking for myself I love the wide open stretches and the infinity of the sea. Especially I like departing then after a long sailing cruise heading for the silhouette of a fantastic town as Visby at Gotland with its towers and walls during daybreak.

All of those you can experience too. Sailing does not have to be elitist. In the company of an experienced skipper “land rats” can have a lot of fun at sea too.

Beware! Sailing can make you addicted. But it brings you good fortune, too, and makes you very healthy.
