The Princess and the Frog

Jazz, Blues and Gospel light up this This modern animated adaptation of E. D. Baker's novel “The Frog Princess”, which takes us to the French Quarter of New Orleans.

The Princess and the Frog
The hardworking waitress Tiana meets the arrogant, carefree Prince Naveen, transformed into a frog by an evil voodoo magician. He manages to convince the girl to give him a kiss. But instead of turning back the prince back into a human, the kiss transforms b[Tiana ] too into an amphibian. They dive into the mystical bayous of Louisiana in the search of a way to break the spell, but this adventure takes them even further: to the fulfillment of their dreams.

At the height of the Roaring Twenties, the great city of New Orleans offers us the spirit of Jazz, Zydeco, Blues and Gospel throughout the movie soundtrack.

Written by the Academy Award-winning composer Randy Newman, the music is interpreted by Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls) as Tiana and the contemporary R&B music star Ne-Yo. You will enjoy the authentic atmosphere and you will probably find yourself marking the rhythm and humming along with the melody.

Despite the classical Disney construction of the main characters’ appearance, the new elements bring an original fragrance to the latest of the Disney Animated Classics. We witness the Studios’ first African-American princess, and sincerely enjoy the trumpet-playing alligator, who dreams to be in a swing band, the hopelessly romantic Cajun firefly and the good Vooodo Queen Mama Odie.

All and all, it is a pleasant entertainment suitable for the whole family, a musical trip to another time and an excellent occasion for the youngest generation to discover the magic of Jazz.
