The Bourne Legacy with Tony Gilroy

Writer/director Tony Gilroy has been hired to pen the script for the fourth movie in the Bourne franchise: 'The Bourne Legacy'. He has also written the previous three films: 'The Bourne Identity', 'The Bourne Supremacy' and 'The Bourne Ultimatum'.

'The Bourne Legacy' is the fourth novel in the franchise, but is the first one that has been written by another writer: Eric Van Lustbader. The film will most likely have, just like the other 3 movies, very little resemblance to the novel.


It is unclear, whether Matt Damon will reprise his role of Jason Bourne. Damon has said that he would only want to make another film, if Paul Greengrass would direct it again, but he, previously, ruled out making further installments in the spy franchise. Greengrass also helmed 'Supremacy' and 'Ultimatum', and the two also worked together on 'Green Zone'.

Still, the movie will be made with or without them. Tony Gilroy, "keeper of the Bourne flame", as producer Frank Marshall calls him, is also a director. He has already directed 'Michael Clayton', starring George Clooney and 'Duplicity' with Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. So who knows, the solution may turn out to be very close!
