Kathryn Bigelow wins Directors Guild AwardKathryn Bigelow, director of 'The Hurt Locker', has won the major prize at the Director’s Guild of America Awards. Bigelow was awarded the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a feature film. Other nominees included James Cameron for 'Avatar', Lee Daniels for 'Precious', Jason Reitman for 'Up in the Air' and Quentin Tarantino for 'Inglourious Basterds'.
The director became the first woman to win the award and the Director’s Guild of America Awards are a big indicator on what may happen at the Oscars later this year.
The 82nd Academy Awards could turn into the battle of the exes. James Cameron is favoured to win, but it is also expected that the 'Avatar' director will have some stiff competition from his ex-wife Bigelow, since she won at both the Producer's Guild and the Director's Guild Awards with her war drama about a bomb disposal squad in Iraq. On March 7, all will be revealed. Staff Writer
