Film and stars: 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' will be in 3D

Freitag 21 Mai 2010

It has been confirmed that 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' will be shot in Disney Digital 3-D.

With this decision, the studio ends a long debated issue whether or not to shoot the fourth installment of the franchise in 3-D, or to convert it into 3-D film in post-production. This last process was used in 'Clash of the Titans' and the upcoming 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' movie.

The newest 'Pirates' film will follow Jack Sparrow on a quest to find the Fountain of Youth. Two leading actors, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will not return as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan. But luckily for all fans: Johnny Depp will reprise his eccentric role as the Captain.

Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane have been added to the cast as the female lead and the movie villain. They will be in the creative hands of director Rob Marshall, who will start shooting this summer, in Hawaii. Fans will have to wait another year, though, because the movie is set for a spring release.
