Joanna Ratajczak: Where does the inspiration for your songs come from?
Aline de Lima: I started to make music because I have a need to translate feelings and experiences. Also, I listen to a lot of music, specially african, jazz, french and brazilian music. It inspire me a lot.
JR: How do you write your songs?
Aline de Lima: Usually, I write my songs listening to other artists like Chico Buarque, Jacques Brel or Bill Evans. I need to be listening music when I write my lyrics. After, I put melodies on my lyrics when they are ready.
JR: What's the current music scene like in her hometown?
Aline de Lima: In my hometown people listen to reggae roots, samba and forró, a kind of traditional music.
JR: Do you also realize that Brazilian music is still so overwhelmingly popular? why do you think that is?
Aline de Lima: Is that? Not in France, unfortunately. If it's the case in Berlin, I think I'm temped to move to your city :-)
JR: What are you listening to at the moment?
Aline de Lima: Almost every day I listen to Elis Regina, my favorit brazilian singer. But I've been listening a lot to african and american blues
JR: Who would you like to work with? maybe some German artist?
Aline de Lima: I'd like to know more about german artists. In fact, I'd like to be a producer too and find artists or musiciens who have the same kind of curiosity and sensibility for the studio work. I like to see videos that show The Beatles producing their songs. I like this kind of energy and concentration to get a different sound, a different musical language. For me, an album is like a painting.
JR: Do you remember your first music fascination- I mean the first time you fell in love with music? How old were you then?
Aline de Lima: I felt in love with music very early, 5 years old. I was crazy for LPs, this object used to fascinate me. But thanks to brazilian traditional music I understood very soon that music was an entity, independent of all kinds of industrial supports.
JR: What are you working on at the moment?
Aline de Lima: I'm preparing my 3rd album. I'm taking my time, because I'd like to make something very strong, with powerful songs and a powerful staff. I've been dreamed with images, colors and a live DVD.
JR: in May 2007 Berliner could see you live in Arena. What were your impressions of Berlin?
Aline de Lima: Berlin is big, it's charming and I love people from this place. They are friedly and don't care too much about status, like people do in latin countries.
I've some friends there. It's so nice to be there because it has a big brazilian community and I feel that German people are very curious. I like this. I made a lot of concerts in Germany in my first european tour. It was great.
